I bought a couch, love seat, recliner, end tables, coffee table round ottoman and lamps from Royal Furniture in Jackson TN in November 2010. Immediatly after delivery we noticed a large scratch on the top of the coffee table that looked "touched up". We called Royal and told them we would bring it back. When to took it outside to load it up it had at least eight places that had been "touched up". They took the table back only because we brought it there and insisted that we would not take it. They kind of treated it like it wasn't a big deal. Within three months out love seat was sagging in the middle. It is a Lane loveseat. We called Royal, we were inquiring about the insurance that we bought for about $300 on the furniture only to be told "we did not buy the insurance. We opted for delivery!?" I am certain that I told the sales lady yes and thought that I was buying the insurance. I did get a policy but when you check it out it only shows the round ottoman was insured. Never did get that all straightened out because when I tried to talk to Steve, the manager, he was so defensive, and made me the enemy. He did give me a company called Fix America that would fix the furniture while it was still under warranty. Well, Fix America, but instead of checking out the frame and fixing it, they came out on three different occassions over that year, and restuffed the cushions. They cushions would stay fluffy for about a week and then back to flat. Amazing how quickly they would start to sag again. The sag in the loveseat never was repaired because it wasn't the cushion, it was the frame. The recliner sags in the back of the seat. Making it painful to sit after a little while. Fix America never did anything with the chair even though we complained about it at the same time that we complained about the love seat. They came one last time and were to restuff the couch and loveseat for the fourth time, and fix the chair. They stuffed the couch, but did nothing with the love seat or the chair. The time ran out on the warranty and now we are just stuck with this junk. The fabric on the couches looked work out as soon as it was brought into the house. It actually had swatches of discoloration that made it look like something had been spilled on it. Steve had no offer to help fix that. The couch that I saw in Royal did not have these discolorations in it.

Oh yea, and a feniel on top of one of the lamps was broken and was never replaced by Royal. The sales lady left the business shortly after I made my sale. After that I only had Steve to deal with and he did not want to deal with my problem.

So, warning. I wouldn't buy ANYTHING from Royal Furniture in Jackson.

Now on the other hand, in 1998 I bought a small love seat at the Royal Clearance Store on Summer in Memphis. I have used it constantly since 1998. It had a small break in the wooden leg when I bought it but I have never had a problem with that. I knew what I was buying when I bought the damaged loveseat. I got my money's worth with it. I expected to buy first class furniture when I bought in Jackson, but that is not what I got.

Monetary Loss: $3000.

Location: Humboldt, Tennessee
